The current world is the result of time and combinatorial events. That idea should should not be controversial. Over time single celled life evolved into multicellular life, which consumed and was consumed by other life and even minerals. All the while the clustering of these life forms gave advantage and provided opportunity that would not be possible for individuals without the group.
